When (and When NOT) to Use Color Correct+ in Your Resin Projects

When (and When NOT) to Use Color Correct+ in Your Resin Projects

How to Know If Your Pour Needs It or If You Can Skip the Dye

If you’ve grabbed a bottle of our Color Correct+ UV+ Dye, first of all — welcome to the VIP club. This little bottle has rescued thousands of pours, saved hundreds of dollars in wasted resin, and become a staple for artists, tumbler makers, and creators everywhere.

But let’s get real for a second…

“Do I need to use Color Correct+ in every batch of resin?”
“How do I know when to add it — and when to leave it out?”

Great questions — and we’re here to help you pour like a pro.

When You Should Use Color Correct+

Color Correct+ is designed to fix resin that’s already showing signs of yellowing or is prone to it based on conditions, age, or brand. Here’s when it’s a must:

  1. You’re Using an Older Bottle of Resin
If your resin has been sitting for 6+ months (especially if it’s been opened), it’s likely begun oxidizing, which can lead to yellow or amber tinting. A few drops of Color Correct+ will rebalance and restore clarity.

  2. Your Resin Looks Slightly Yellow in the Cup
Sometimes, resin looks fine in the bottle, but once mixed and in a clear cup or mold, a faint yellow hue appears. This is the perfect moment to add 4–6 pumps of Color Correct+ per 8 oz, stir well, and save the clarity.

  3. You’re Working on a Bright or Transparent Piece
Any project that involves white backgrounds, clear molds, bright pigments, or transparent layers requires clean, crystal-clear resin. Even the slightest yellowing can distort your final result. Color Correct+ helps ensure your resin reads true in color and clarity.

  4. You’re Using a Budget Resin or an Unfamiliar Brand
Many low-cost epoxy brands lack the UV protection you really need. If you’re not sure what’s in your resin, Color Correct+ is your insurance policy — both for color and UV defense.

When You Don’t Need Color Correct+

We created Color Correct+ to rescue, not replace, quality resin — and if you’re using Artistry Epoxy, you probably don’t need it in most cases. Here’s when you can skip it:

  1. You’re Pouring with Artistry Epoxy (Fresh Bottle)
Our upgraded formula already includes a triple-shield blend of UV Inhibitors, Blockers, and HALS, Bubble Release Technology, and high-gloss, food-safe clarity. Unless your project is sitting in direct sunlight for long periods, you likely won’t need Color Correct+ at all.

  2. You’re Using Opaque or Dark Pigments
If you’re pouring deep colors like black, navy, emerald, or rich metallics, the visual impact of mild yellowing is zero. No need to waste product.

  3. You’re Using Resin Right After Opening
Fresh resin with good UV protection (like Artistry) will pour clean and clear without additives — no dye required.

How to Test If Your Resin Needs It
Step 1: Mix a small test batch (about 2 oz) of your resin
Step 2: Pour into a clear cup or mold
Step 3: Check against a white background in natural light
If it looks slightly yellow or amber, add a few drops of Color Correct+ in the next round.

Final Thoughts
Color Correct+ is the perfect tool to:

  • Rescue older or yellowed resin

  • Ensure flawless clarity for light/transparent projects

  • Add extra UV protection when needed

But with Artistry Epoxy, you’ll find yourself using it less often — because we built our resin to solve those issues before they happen.
