BRIDAL Tumbler Tutorial using Shape Tape Double sided adhesive sheets!
Today, we're diving into a fun DIY project: creating a beautiful bride cup using a few of our favorite products, including shape tape, epoxy, glitter, and vinyl. This design reminds me of the classic Letterman's jackets with its varsity-style lettering, and it's perfect for any bride-to-be. So, let's jump right into it!
Materials You'll Need:
- 20 oz tumbler
- Matte nude color fix paint
- Epoxy resin
- Extra fine silver champagne glitter
- Shape tape (double-sided adhesive sticky sheets)
- Silhouette or Cricut Machine
- White vinyl
- Packing tape (or transfer tape)
- Snowy glitter (small cut)
- Clear matte spray paint
- Little heart stickers
- Yellow micro mini glitter
- Small charm
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Prepping the Tumbler
Start with a 20 oz tumbler that has been prepped with a matte finish. Apply a base coat of nude color fix paint. This color provides excellent coverage and sets a beautiful foundation for our design. Once the first coat is dry, apply a second coat to ensure an even finish.
2. Adding Epoxy and Glitter
Once the paint is dry, apply the first layer of epoxy mixed with super fine silver champagne glitter. This adds a subtle sparkle to the tumbler. Let the epoxy cure completely before moving on to the next step.
3. Using Shape Tape
Next, take your shape tape, which comes in a pack of 10 for $12.95. This double-sided adhesive is perfect for various designs. Cut the tape using your Silhouette or Cricut Machine. For this project, we're cutting a full wrap design and the word "bride". You can also paint the shape tape; in this case, we painted the tape gold and left some grid lines to glitter.
4. Applying the Vinyl
Cut out the word "bride" in white vinyl using your cutting machine. Create an offset of the word to give it a varsity jacket look. Use packing tape to transfer the shape tape onto the white vinyl. Carefully align and stack the layers.
5. Placing the Design on the Cup
Place the vinyl and shape tape design onto the tumbler. When you peel off the tape, the white paper layer will come off, leaving the sticky shape tape on the tumbler. Sprinkle snowy glitter over the shape tape, ensuring it sticks well. Rub it in to make sure there are no spots missing.
6. Refining the Details
If the offset design isn't perfect, use a razor to cut out any excess areas between the letters for better readability. Seal the design with clear matte spray paint to protect the glitter.
7. Adding Final Touches
Apply another layer of epoxy to seal in the glitter. Sand the tumbler lightly to ensure a smooth finish. Add another layer of epoxy mixed with yellow micro mini glitter for extra sparkle and an iridescent shift.
8. Adding a Charm
To finish off, add a small charm to the tumbler. This adds a special touch, making it even more unique for the bride.
And that's it! Your beautiful, glittery bride cup is complete. It's a perfect gift for any bride or a fun project for yourself. Thank you so much for following along. See you in the next one!
