Plum and Copper EPOXY COASTER TUTORIAL!
Hey, guys starting with my silicone molds from amazon, I will link these below for you guys. They have a cool beveled edge, and I love pouring some mixed epoxy into my cup and adding this gorgeous plum-colored pigment paste. I am testing it out by mixing that in and adding a couple of drops of black dye. I wanted it a little bit deeper than this, adding that in mixing it up, then what I did I poured clear, and the plum at the same time that I got one side was left clear.
It's easier to do when you pour it at the same time that you don't have one color seeping over. You can fill up the mold by doing it this way. It's tricky the first time you do this; you have to get used to it because you are using both hands simultaneously. But once you get used to it, it's easy, and these coasters are super simple, and I poured it in.
I wanted it to stay the separate colors like that. I tried to blend or have them like I wanted to use them sparingly. I wanted to leave it the look it was when I poured it. We can do all the fun crazy blending and adding colors and doing this and that But sometimes simple is best. It's nice to do some simple things sometimes, and simple is more accessible, too, adding a little bit clearer where I needed to fill up the mold a little bit more than, as I said, I didn't want to move or blend anything. I like using a heat gun in molds, but for this, I torched it several times to get out all the little bubbles.
Then the next day, taking them out of the molds was pretty easy. A couple got a bit stuck, and I used a silicone mold spray before I poured these. I'll have that linked below for you guys. Do not try to use silicone molds with a silicone spray. It helps get everything out of the molds nice and clean sometimes, it does stick a little bit, but for the most part, it makes it much easier to see. This one gave me a little bit of trouble, and I had to spend some time on it.
Once I have those out, I'm taking super fine sandpaper along the edge. There's a high point on these all you want to do sand it down to make it nice and smooth and ensure you're not touching the top of the coaster. You will leave little scratch marks if you get it over there. Be very careful. You're only doing it on edge, then taking the deco color paint pen in the copper shade. These are my absolute favorites, the deco color, but there are two other brands, krylon and I can't think of the other brand, but they all are very similar looking, they all are the same packaging they have different brand names.
These are the absolute best paint pens. If you have yet to try them, give them a try. They always look beautiful. It gives you that beautiful metallic shine whether you're doing gold, silver, or copper, but painting along beveled edges makes it pleasant. The copper one looked nice with a plum color.
I did these coasters. Super simple, but they turned out pretty. You could add a little vinyl quote or like initials to make them more unique. Thank you much for watching. Bye.
