Candy APPLE Koozie Tutorial!
Hey guys. Today and this one is cute. I'm proud of this one. This is my candy apple koozie. It turned out adorable, and this red glitter is gorgeous. This is from my desert collection. I honestly did not know where I was going with this cup when I did the drips of the glitter, and then it all came together. I put candy apples for a dollar on there. It's cute, and I did a little apple on the bottom. This one was fun. It's very different from anything I've ever done. It is cute, and I love doing koozies because they're more minor and a little a bit other than everyday tumblers, but this red and this burgundy color together is stunning. I love it significantly falls the apple colors.
I love it. Let's get into the tutorial, starting with this stainless koozie I got from a random grocery store. I don't even remember where, but I took off the stickers and the top little screw cap and prepped it. Then I'm going to paint this claret wine shade from rust oleum. It's this gorgeous deep dark red and the first layer of epoxy. Once that spray paint was dry, this is the artistry tumbler and art epoxy. Then once that layer was dry, I cut out this decal of these bigger Drips and used masking tape to put that on my cup.
As you see, the drips are the blank space at the top of the cup, not the decal themselves. I had a weird spot right there I avoided where the two sides of the decal met, taking some mod podge and a little foam brush and painting where those drips were. Don't do it too thin, or your glitter will not stick well enough, especially if you're trying to get this done in one little in one go and not go back and forth between glue and glitter. So glob it on there not too crazy. Still, you need a fantastic amount from my desert collection, and sprinkle that right on top of this medium cut.
I took the same shade in the minor cut to fill in gaps and blended that out on the cup. Finally, it was time to peel off the decal. I'm retaking the amount and going on the edge of the drips to ensure everything looks perfect. Once dry, we had a lot of extra glitter on the cup.
I take a stiff brush and a kind Brush. Make sure your mod podge is completely dry before you do this. However, or else you're going to start moving the glitter that you want to stay on the cup, and if that doesn't work, use some masking tape or some tape and do that until you get all the excess glitter off. Then you're going to go and seal this well with clear spray paint. I usually like three coats of this, and my cup looks crazy. I had sanded parts, and in the sunlight, it looked bizarre. But you can see it looks dark here. It may seem odd in the sun, but we're doing more epoxy once that clear is dry.
Then I'm taking the deco color paint pen in the copper shade and tracing around those drips. If you wanted to, you could cut this out in vinyl, take the same drips that you had, and do an offset, and you could easily do it in vinyl if you wanted to. I tried to hand paint with a metallic paint pen.
Then I cut out a little decal that says candy apples for a dollar with a do I not feel like you can even see the glitter under the epoxy? It didn't matter, and then I did it on top of this. It's like rose gold. I am using scotch tape to put this on top and layer them. My genius husband said hey, why don't you use scotch tape because it's clear, and I can't find transfer tape that works? So I tried it, and it works. So if you're struggling, try scotch tape because that's the best thing I found.
I was then placing this on my cup between those two longer drips. It was like the perfect spot for a decal, and it fit perfectly. Then doing my extra little apple on the bottom then, I thought it was missing something. So I took some mod podge, a little paintbrush, and this beautiful white glitter and added it to the bottom of the drips.
It added a cute touch. I went around the whole cup and did that to the rest of the drips and in a few random spots. I wanted to add a little bit of glitter onto my little apple. Then let that dry again and take the brush to brush off the excess glitter. I did two more layers of epoxy on top of this to finish the cup or finish the koozie, and then I did it. It turned out cute let me know what you guys think of this little candy apple koozie in the comments down below. Remember to check out the next day of my fall tutorials tomorrow. Thank you much for watching. Bye.
