FOIL TREE MUG TUMBLER TUTORIAL! Bonus Day 13 of 12 Days of Christmas!
https://youtu.be/jCkjMjRYnCg
Hey guys, I am back for a special bonus day 13. this is the mug that I love the shape of it and the mug. I love the shape and handle. I wanted to do a Christmas cup with this one taking off the lid and packaging and prepping with mattify. We'll use color-fix paint in a latte and do all-over coverage with this using my large brush.
We're going on with our first layer of epoxy. This is the Artistry one-to-one fast set. First, we're going to cut our little trees in shape tape. Then, I go to the Washi sheets setting, go up to 3 or three on the blade depth and play around with the others.
I have my little trees just weeding out around the trees, and we're pulling off the top layer and the sticky layer. So we can get the trees straight on the cup. I'm using some transfer tape to transfer that off onto your tape. Sometimes it's hard to see, but ensure you're getting it off.
We're going to use the guide tool from the Cami Page Boutique to get our straight or to get our decal straight on the cup, placing that on the cup and pulling that off, and this is going to pull off the top layer of shape tape as well. Since we're doing different colors of foils, I pulled two top layers off the transfer tape and just placed them back onto the cup.
These are nail foils. I get a bunch on Amazon. They come in these little packs. They were cheap. I mixed and matched them, and I decided on this green one, a red one, and this blue kind of Christmas print. You'll take the foil, press it onto the shape tape, and rip it off. It's a simple way easier.
Than doing any type of foil glue or transfer gel or anything. I still experiment with those trying to find the best one, but shape tape always works. We're doing our red tree on the other side. we're doing this blue kind of print in the middle, and I cut out a triangle because I wanted it to go on straight since it does have a design and we'll add a little part at the top.
It missed that little tiny corner, so I added it back on and rubbed on the corner to get it to stick, adding that little bit at the top, and you guys can see how simple this is. It is easy, and it turns out cute that it is done. So we're going on with a merry, bright decal that I cut out. I thought it would be adorable to add a cute little Christmas saying to it okay, and this is where I mess up.
Be mindful of where your transfer tape is going. I let it stick right over my foil which I realized right away, and as I pulled it out, it pulled off part of my blue tree, which I was upset about but keep that in mind if you're going to do something like this if you're doing decals next to your foils just make sure you're not going to rip off any foils.
I did patching it, and it looks okay. It was perfect before I ruined an ideal thing but be careful because the bottom had like a rubber, whatever those are called. I took it out. I'm filling it in with some leftover epoxies from different cups. I put it in the bottom and spread it out, and I ended up doing two different layers of this to get it a nice smooth flat surface. I used a fast set for this, and it went fast, and I could do it in a couple of hours. So there it is, the nice smooth flat surface taking Fireside Winter Wonderland and tree farm to make a mix.
I mixed those up and realized I didn't love how it was. So I took more traditional Christmas colors, Balsam, this is Holly and chunky and snowy, all chunky mixes that looked more like what I wanted, but I did end up adding some of the other mixes to give it a few little brighter, colorful iridescent Pops in there once I had my mix I took some glitter glue and spread it all over the bottom of the cup that inner part where we did the epoxy on that Glitter and wiped off any that got around.
We'll seal that once it is dry with some quick seal. I used just this foam brush that I had again to wipe off any glitter that went outside the lines. I let that dry, and it was time to go on with epoxy. I did two more layers to finish off the cup. And replaced the lid, and here she is. She turned out festive and cute. I love the little trees and the little pop of glitter at the bottom. It's such a fancy festive cup. I love it. Thank you guys much for watching my 12 Days of Christmas series. I hope you guys like this little bonus day, and I will see you at the next one. Bye.
